Trying to find the best movie to watch on Netflix can be a daunting challenge. We spend hours browsing and by the time we stumble on something we think maybe it’s the one, it’s too late, we’re too tired and indecision has won out. We’ve all been there.
You’ve gotta find something that fits your mood or something you and your couch partner can agree on. For those who are craving the hopefulness of a romance but also the lightheartedness of a comedy, rom-coms are the perfect cross-section of movie genres. These movies simultaneously pull at your heartstrings and poke at your funny bone and the best part is that you can always expect a happy ending.
Here are the best romantic comedies currently available on Netflix:
The Kissing Booth
I believe this movie is exactly what teens are looking for in a romantic film. The actors are well-chosen and I’m surprised at how perfect they are for their roles. Elle Evans (Joey King) might not be the most popular girl in school, but her social status definitely rises when she volunteers to run the kissing booth at the school carnival—a scheme to lock lips with her crush, who just happens to be her best friend’s brother. The music also hits you differently. It adds to the many touching moments that appear throughout the movie between Elle and Noah.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
This movie is love. Lara has crushes on guys as a normal girl, she never wants to open up about them since she wants that, she shouldn’t be hurt by the one later on. Also is insecure and wants the relationship and feelings just kept one-sided as she writes letters to all her crushes. Peter K, being a former crush turns out to be the constant boy for her as they fake their relationship for particular reasons. That’s how the love blossoms, things change. Lara and Peter fall for each other and gradually rise in love. The best teen romantic movie I enjoyed recently.
Just Go With It
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston will always remain one of my favorites. Their chemistry is astounding and Adam Sandler’s sense of humor can be described with only one word: EPIC. After spending years carrying around a wedding ring to trick women into thinking he’s in a terrible marriage, the single Danny (Adam Sandler) meets Palmer, the girl of his dreams. When she finds the fake ring, she assumes he’s married and becomes furious. Rather than come clean, Danny tells her he’s a divorced family man, recruiting his employee (Jennifer Aniston) and her two kids to play the parts.
The movie brought with it my favourite actors one after the other. I can’t think of another such instance. Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Queen Latifah, Patrick Dempsey… Visuals are outstanding. The best part is the realisation that many of the stars have worked together many times. This movie follows several men, women, and children in the LA area, all connected to each other somehow, as they each experience everything from exciting blossoming relationships to heartbreak.
Set It Up
If you’re looking for some lighthearted, fun watch then this movie is a perfect choice! Loved it! There are no cheesy scenes that’ll make you cringe. It has the right amount of intensity while still keeping it fresh. Two corporate assistants (Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell) are tired of their domineering bosses (Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs), so they scheme to hook them up in order to lighten their workload (and, naturally, also happen to fall for each other, too).
See you soon. xoxo!
